Jerre Davisdon
Kent & Doug Farndale Award of Excellence

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Jerre Davidson studied at The Scottish Ballet School and later danced professionally. These early experiences and her love of dance and music is evident in the flowing cast glass sculptures she creates. Jerre studied at various centers of excellence in glass education including Pilchuck, WA; The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass; and North lands Creative in Caithness Scotland. She has received a number of awards, including project and exhibition assistance grants from the Ontario Arts Council, and a first place award of excellence in sculpture at the Canadian Society of Artists Exhibition. Her work has been exhibited in Korea, Scotland, USA and Canada.

“Each sculpture explores the shifting rhythms of a particular space and I use gestural shapes, light, shadow and reflection, to capture these spatial rhythms. My current project involves the recording of a dancer's movements in a Motion Capture Studio. These recordings are then converted into a printable file and a model of the movement pathways is created. The lost wax casting technique is used to transform these models into kiln-cast glass sculptures.” Jerre works out of her studio near Elora in Southern Ontario.
