CO Space is a multi-purpose venue dedicated to providing an accessible space for our members and the public to learn, create, discover, and build community.

In the space you will find workshops, classes, talks, and member-produced exhibitions and events. Renting CO Space is free for members, and is available on a sliding-scale rate for non-members.

CO Space, located on the second floor of Craft Ontario at 1106 Queen Street West, is a community space that is available for events and presentations.

The venue is available for members to book for free, and available to non-members to rent.

Booking your event with Craft Ontario means that you are supporting your local community of makers. Revenues from venue rentals support Craft Ontario’s member programs and services.

 Member Bookings

We offer Craft Ontario members the opportunity to apply and use the venue for free during regular weekday operating hours. We encourage members to use CO Space to run their own workshops, presentations, meetings, trunk shows, exhibitions, and more!


Rental Rates

  • Free for members booking during weekday operating hours
  • $30 per hour for members booking the venue outside of regular operating hours, and generating revenue from their booking

Applying to host your event

Application deadline
  • 5 weeks in advance of your desired booking
  • A Craft Ontario staff member will respond within 2 business days.
  • Free bookings must take place during Craft Ontario’s weekday operating hours
  • Bookings that fall outside of weekday operating hours will be charged an hourly rate
  • Bookings that generate revenue will be charged an hourly rate (ie. pop-up shops, ticketed events and workshops, trunk shows, etc.)
  • If the member intends to process payment during their booking they must handle all aspects of payment, as well as insurance for theft and damage
  • If your event is open to the public, Craft Ontario will promote it in our e-newsletters, in our community events listing, and in the CO Space calendar
  • Bookings should reflect Craft Ontario’s values,
  • CO Space is not suitable for personal or religious events such as weddings or birthday parties

Non-Member Bookings

CO Space is also available to non-members at an hourly rate during available operating hours.

  • $50/hour - if operating budget is under $100,000
  • $70/hour - if operating budget is under $500,000
  • $90/hour - if operating budget is over $500,000

How do I book an event?

Use the online form to fill out a request for your desired event, and Craft Ontario staff will get back to you within two business days.

Can I have extra time to set up and clean up?

The time of your event proposal or booking with us should include the time that you need to set up and clean up your event. This will be coordinated between your team and ours.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are renting the space for a fee, we require a minimum of ten (10) business days advance notice to cancel any bookings without financial penalty. If this time requirement is not met, Craft Ontario will charge the full amount of the booking.

How do I pay for the rental?

Once your event is approved through the online application booking form, Craft Ontario will send you an electronic invoice for the amount of the rental which will include payment instructions.

Are there any time restrictions on rentals?

Events may not start earlier than 9:00 am or run past 10:00 pm.

What if my proposed event requires more than one day?

The use of CO Space depends on overall availability. If an event, such as an exhibition, is requested for multiple days, the alloted time cannot overlap with other bookings and Craft Ontario events.

What if I would like to sell work in CO Space?

If you are interested in programming a trunk show or exhibition in which work is available for sale, the space must be rented, and all sales and liability insurance must be handled by the individual or organization that is renting the venue.

Do you have to rent a minimum number of hours?

We require a three-hour minimum rental for event spaces.

Can I serve food at my event?

Yes - however we do not offer a kitchen space for preparing food, or any serving dishes or utensils. All food must be prepared prior to being brought to the space, and all food and serving materials must be removed from the space at the end of the event.

Can I serve alcohol at my event?

You are required to obtain a Special Occasion Permit from the LCBO and provide Smart Serve certified bar staff. Please be aware that you need to order a SOP well in advance of your event:

How many people can fit in the space?

It depends on your event, and how many tables and chairs are needed. In general, the space can accommodate the following:

    • Standing reception 45
    • Theatre 35
    • Seated at tables 18

Will my room be set up for me the way I need it?

Set up and tear down/clean up are the responsibility of your team – please make sure you have enough people to help out! Craft Ontario staff will be available to set up any digital equipment you have requested, answer questions about the building, show you where things are located, tell you the wifi password, and generally offer Craft Ontario presence so you can focus on your event.

What furniture is included in my booking?

Most furniture and amenities that are located in the space are included in your rental. This includes tables and chairs.

Will I have access to wifi?

The space comes with free wifi. Craft Ontario staff will let you know what the network and password are.

What equipment do I have access to?

CO Space comes with access to a projector, screen and conference pod. You are welcome to bring your own equipment.

What are the business hours? What if my event falls outside of these hours?

Craft Ontario is open Mon – Wed, 10 am – 6 pm; Thurs and Fri, 10 am – 7 pm; Sat, 11 am – 7 pm; and Sun, 12 pm – 5 pm. If your event is in the evening or on the weekend, a Craft Ontario staff person will be onsite, and will ensure that the door is open for you and your guests.

Where is the closest parking for this space?

There is a small Green P Carpark (#229) directly behind Craft Ontario, located at 110 Dovercourt Road, with 8 available spaces - please click here for more info.

At 18 Ossington Avenue, there is a larger Green P Carpark (#167) - please click here for more info.

Front street parking on Queen St. W. is also regulated by Green P Parking: there is no parking allowed Mon-Fri between 4-6pm, and there is free parking Sunday morning until 1pm.

How can you get there by transit?

Craft Ontario is easily accessible by the 501 Queen Streetcar, and is a short walk from either the 63 Ossington or 29 Dufferin buses.

Is this a physically accessible space?

CO Space is not an accessible space, and can only be entered or exited by a flight of stairs.

Can event guests roam the building?

During operating hours, guests are welcome to enjoy the Craft Ontario Gallery and Shop. If alcohol is being served during the event, guests are not allowed to take alcoholic beverages outside of CO Space.

Can we hang signs downstairs to direct people up to the second floor?

Craft Ontario does not permit signs or posters to be hung on the doors or walls of the ground floor. Craft Ontario staff can coordinate in advance to ensure that guests are properly directed to CO Space.
